If you’re using the grapevine shreddings on an electric smoker, you place them right on the burner. With a gas grill, wrap the vines in heavy foil, poke some holes in the foil, and place the foil packet on a burner turned to high. You can turn down the heat when smoke begins to come out of the holes in the foil. If you’re cooking with charcoal, you can place grapevine shreddings in with the coals.
